TO THE 2nd GRADE MUSIC CLASSES OF DR. BELL:
We have been studying the instruments and instrument families of the orchestra. During the next class we will take a short quiz to see how well they remember the instruments and the general concepts about each instrument family. Following the quiz, it is the student’s turn to perform if he or she would like to or share something musical from home. Your child can perform one or two pieces of music on an instrument that they take lessons on, or they can share something musical from home, like an unusual instrument. They can also sing a song or do a dance, but they must be prepared and have rehearsed them. They can bring the CD to sing or dance to if necessary. This is all optional because part of what they will be learning, is how to be a good audience member as well.
If the student chooses to perform, they must bring their music and instrument if it is NOT piano or bring whatever they would like to share. There is a very nice Yamaha upright in my room if they plan to play the piano. I will set the chairs up in a recital setting so that we can discuss how to be a good audience and other concert etiquette. Again, this is not a requirement, but if your child is preparing for any recitals or auditions outside of school, this is a good opportunity to practice performing and share their talent for music. Unfortunately, parents are NOT invited, this is for the students only.
This opportunity is during the next two 6 Day cycles. I have listed the classes and dates for your convenience so that you can remind your child.
